Our Thursday Hands-On Classes are designed with more time and in-depth instruction in mind. Our instructors bring the learning and materials to you, and you walk away from each class WITH something to represent the learning from that class. We are very excited to offer classes again on Thursday this year! Optional Thursday Hands-On classes are included in our NEW Weekend VIP-PLATINUM Package or can be added to our Weekend and VIP Packages for an additional charge.
Christmas Around the Wreath! – Wendy Skaggs – Sweet n Sassy Designs — Thursday @ 1:00pm
With this year’s theme being Christmas in July, what better way to kick off the event than with a hands-on class where every attendee walks away WITH a deco mesh wreath embellished with embroidered pieces that represent Christmas around the world? Each attendee will create a deco mesh wreath, choose the embroidered wreath parts of their choice, and leave with a USB of all designs in the collection, a “cheat sheet” for creating a deco mesh wreath, AND a wreath ready to hang for Christmas!

Advanced Digitizing Hands-On Seminar Exploring 3 Specific In the Hoop Projects Volume 1 – Sheila Ryan – Designs by Babymoon — Thursday @ 9:00am
Feltie Project, Snap Tab Project, Eyelet Tab Project. For this advanced digitizing session, we will dive deep into three in-the-hoop digitizing projects, learning to analyze and construct 3D designs like a Feltie, Snap Tab, and Eyelet Tag with Embrilliance Stitch Artist. Basic digitizing knowledge is helpful for this class. Users will be given homework projects to try on their own and be able to access continued support for future digitizing help with other In The Hoop projects.

Creative Threads: Combining Sublimation and Embroidery – Claire Sheppard – Blanktastic — Thursday @ 4:00pm
Unleash a new dimension of creativity by merging the vibrant world of sublimation with the textured artistry of embroidery. This hands-on workshop, “Creative Threads,” will delve into innovative techniques that elevate your embroidery projects and expand your product offerings. Embracing the festive spirit of “Christmas in July,” our interactive project will be a “Santa Hat Bar”! Participants will engage in a fun, hands-on experience, customizing their own Santa hats with a variety of embellishments. Each attendee will receive a Santa hat and three add-ons of their choice, including beautifully sublimated patches, acrylic pins, lasered patches, and more. Additional embellishments will be available for purchase.

We’re talking stabilizers, backings, edge finishes, and stitching techniques that will take your patches from homemade to high-quality. Embroidery Design Organization – Karlie Belle — Friday @ 8:00am & 9:45am
Join Karlie Belle for an in-person, hands-on class where you’ll learn to organize your embroidery designs like a pro! During this interactive session, you’ll discover tools and techniques to create an efficient, personalized organization system. Plus, each participant will receive Karlie Belle’s exclusive Embroidery Design Organizer as a free gift. Throughout the class, we’ll cover essential skills: managing digital file storage, unzipping and naming files effectively, and decluttering your design collection. You’ll master our user-friendly file folder system and receive 20 printable PDFs to boost your productivity. In this class you will also learn how to set up a digital database that works on both Mac and PC. This digital database allows you to view all of your embroidery designs in one place and make them so easy to find. Perfect Caps – Caps from Scratch with Perfectly Positioned Machine Embroidery Details – Sheila Ryan – Designs by Babymoon — Friday @ 8:00am & 9:45am and Saturday @ 8:00am
In this session, students will get a full tutorial and guide for doing embroidery on fabric and then using that fabric to create a custom ball cap, complete with stable brim, snap back and even a beautiful lining! This is a combination Embroidery Plus Sewing class and students will receive a guide with these placement tips so that they can see how to place embroidered elements in many ways on their custom ball caps.

Join Melissa Harris, owner of Designs by Little Bee, as she goes “back to basics” of embroidery digitizing, using Embrilliance software. Melissa will dive into what the icons on the digitizing mat are, how to start a project, common errors to prevent, and much more!

This class covers the basics of influencer marketing. It will provide an overview of the major social networks and explain how to use AI to design and implement your strategies. We will also discuss how to automate posts and encourage engagement across social media channels.
Hey Batter, Batter! Embroidery Baseballs & Softballs – Wendy Skaggs – Sweet n Sassy Designs — Saturday @ 8:00am
Hit it out of the park with personalized softballs and baseballs! We will embroider a baseball from start to finish, with EACH PARTICIPANT lacing up his/her AG 2025 baseball! Participants will receive a design template and “cheat sheet” to make embroidering and reassembling easier.
Machine Embroidery QUILTING techniques – Sheila Ryan – Designs by Babymoon — Saturday @ 11:00am and Sunday @ 8:00am
In this session, students will explore different ways to incorporate machine embroidery into their quilt projects. Piecing, Patchwork, Appliqué, Quilt as You Go, and finally Quilting the layers with your embroidery machine will all be presented and easily explained so that we can get those quilting projects out of our heads and into the world!

In this class we’ll talk about some common mistakes users, but newbies and experienced, make on social media. This class offers a brief overview of “all the things” currently in the marketplace, including the pros and cons of each. We’ll explore how these processes can enhance your business and, most importantly, how to know when it’s time to invest in new equipment or outsource.

Printed Vinyl Projects – Shanna Pappas – Glitterbug Fairy — Saturday @ 2:30pm
Come learn just how easy it is to sew this adorable set using printed vinyl from GlitterBugFairy! This class includes 4 easy to sew projects – a 9×6 crossbody zipper bag, a small zipper bag perfect for change, a lip balm holder, and the cute little bag tag. Class kits will be available in several different printed designs!
The Psychology of Pricing – Kristine Shreve — Saturday @ 2:30pm
Pricing is something that can be confusing and frustrating for any decorator. Whether it’s answering a question from a friend about what they owe you for the blanket you just monogrammed, or if you’re setting up prices for selling in an online store, there are a lot of variables to consider. In this class we’ll touch on the nuts and bolts of setting pricing and also talk about tactics that can be used to sway customers toward a certain price or to obtain a price that you want. We’ll also cover common pricing objections and how to handle them.
Embroidery Stabilizers 101 – Karlie Belle — Saturday @2:30pm
This class introduces the different types of stabilizers used in machine embroidery. Students learn about the purpose of stabilizers, the various types available, and how to choose the right stabilizer for their project. They also gain hands-on experience with different stabilizers and learn best practices for using them effectively.

“Everyone knows” that certain types of customers never use social media. “Everyone knows” that there are golden times that are the best times to post regardless of what group you’re trying to reach. “Everyone knows” a great deal about social media, the question is whether or not what they know is really true. In this class we’ll examine some common things about social media that “everyone knows” and decide if they’re true or false. We’ll also talk about how what’s true for one platform may not be true for all, and about tailoring your message to your market. Regardless of the purpose you have for using social media, this class can help you do it more effectively and efficiently.
Quilting with an Embroidery Machine – Karlie Belle — Sunday @ 11:00am
This class will discuss various methods of quilting: either making quilt blocks in the hoop or stitching all-over quilting using an embroidery machine. Students will learn to turn any design into a quilt block based on the hoop size. We will discuss how to create custom quilting designs using software or special features that are available on some Brother and Baby Lock machines. We will also review different resources and supplies for quilting with an embroidery machine.
It’s All About Books: Creating a Reading Pillow, Quick and Simple – Wendy Skaggs – Sweet n Sassy Designs — Sunday @ 11:00am
We all know kids are on laptops and cell phones WAAAYYYY too much, so it’s time to get back INTO books! This class will dive into the creation of reading pillows that bring kids’ favorite stories to life! We will explore a quick and simple method of embroidering the pocket, assembling the pillow pocket, and displaying it for craft shows.

Our 2025 Applique Getaway offers a variety of class sessions for various skill levels, all taught by your favorite industry experts! Handouts and “cheat sheets” will be available as a download and hard copy. Learn about embroidery, applique, vinyl, sublimation, heat presses and more!

SHOPPING
The shopping experience at Applique Getaway is AMAZING!! This year’s Shop & Social will incorporate our Christmas in July theme with an Ugly Christmas Sweater/T-shirt contest. Our Vendor Floor is full of vendors, exhibitors, music, and prizes. Did someone say PRIZES?! Mandi and Tonda are back and will be your MCs for the weekend, highlighting specials and deals around the Vendor Floor and announcing HOURLY prize giveaways!!

COMMUNITY & FRIENDSHIP
If there is one thing that Applique Getaway is proud of, it is the community of attendees who form lifelong friendships. Whether it’s outside the Vendor Floor, inside classrooms, waiting in line while shopping, or sitting together at lunch, our attendees come together for a weekend of fellowship! We can’t wait to see the old and new friendships that are made this year!

AFTER-HOUR SOCIALS
Our After-Hour Socials are such a fun way to wind down from a day of shopping and learning! We have yelled BINGO!, “BLINGed out” zipper totes, and even sipped and socialized, and each time attendees have had a blast. This year, we are excited to announce that we will have THREE After-Hour Socials!!! Stay tuned for more details.
